RO / NF system feedwater must be treated and prepared to minimize scaling ions, suspended solids, free halogen residuals and microbiological contamination. After this takes place the feedwater must then be chemically pretreated. This will help prevent mineral scaling, microbiological degradation of membrane parts, and plugging. Preparing the water to enter your RO / NF system is a way to protect your assets and reduce cleaning schedules as well as extend the life of the system.

Pretreatment for RO / NF Systems:

In order to maintain optimum performance and maximize the lifetime on membranes, pretreatment is critical for your RO / NF system. Properly pretreating the water going into the system will prevent fouling, scaling and membrane degradation from occurring.

Fouling can occur by suspended solids, organics, colloids and microbiological matter.
Scaling can happen from the system being introduce to BaSO4, SrSO4, CaSO4, CaCO3 and reactive silica.
Membrane Degradation happens via exposure to bacterias, exposures to high temperatures, and exposure to hydrolysis at low or high PH levels.

Chemenergy will keep all feed-water sources up to quality control requirements for CA and TFC type membranes. Our pretreatment chemical control techniques will allow us to achieve optimal water purity for use in your RO / NF system.
