Learn more >Once-through cooling tower systems are most commonly used when a sufficient supply of water and temperature are available. Open-Circulating systems are replacing once-through cooling systems but many once-through towers are still found in place operating today. These systems usually run water from lakes, rivers, or ocean sources. A high percentage is raw ( untreated ) river water.

Once-through cooling systems hold water for a shorter period of time, the water does not concentrate and it does not change significantly in chemical or physical characteristics in some circumstances. Even with this being true, water treatment service and Legionella packages should still be used to combat disease spread and ensure of non-contamination, reduced energy usage, reduced water usage, and reduced system downtime and repairs.
